Following are the five sites that have been selected for the Florida Pilot Program. If you are able to participate in public meetings at any of these five sites, please do so. Review the documents within the Resources tab, to help you clearly understand the issue. Find out when and where meeting are being held, and attend.

    • March 5, 2012 - The FWC is accepting public comment on the proposed ordinance. You can comment here. The comment period will close on Marchh 18,2012.

    • January 24, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. - Public Meeting To Discuss Potential Ordinances to Restrict Anchoring

      While the city has not published any specific proposals to review, we strongly encourage all area cruisers to participate in this meeting, by attending or submitting your comments, to ensure boaters’ concerns are heard.

      PURPOSE: The Proposed Sarasota Ordinance is on the FWC Commission Meeting agenda. Meeting and location information are here. You can see a copy of the ordinace here.
    • Thursday May, 10, 2012 9:00 a.m. - The Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC), Division of Law Enforcement, announces a public meeting to which all persons are invited.

      PURPOSE: To provide an opportunity for representatives from participants in the Anchoring and Mooring Pilot Program and FWC to answer questions from the agencies and organizations specified in FS 327.4105 and the general public related to the participants’ proposed ordinances. The agency anticipates that one or more of the following ordinances will be available for discussion; Sarasota, Stuart/Martin, and Monroe. Our finalized agenda will identify which of the previously listed participants will be in attendance.

      A copy of the agenda may be obtained by contacting the FWC, Division of Law Enforcement, Boating and Waterways Section, 620 South Meridian Street, Room 235, Tallahassee, Florida, 32399-1600, or by calling Shelly Gurr at (850)488-5600.

    • Thursday May, 3, 2012 - The Sarasota anchoring and mooring ordinance was posted on the FWC website today to collect public comment. The ordinance is being posted to collect public comment specific to the individual ordinance. This is an opportunity for anyone to review and provide comments. The ordinance will be posted for comment until Midnight on May 16, 2012 at myfwc.com/boating/anchoring-mooring

      The most recent draft of proposed ordinances for Monroe County (including the municipalities of Marathon and Key West) are now online for your perusal and comment. Please read thoroughly and let your concerns be heard. There will be a meeting of the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) on April 18th where the final draft of proposed ordinances will be on the table for approval to go forward through the protocol of the FWC administered Pilot Program.
